Sherman M4A1Er den vigtigste amerikanske mellemstore kampvogn fra Anden Verdenskrig. Fremstillet i årene 1942-1945 blev den den mest genkendelige amerikanske kampvogn. Under krigen blev det dynamisk udviklet. Den var udstyret med en 75 mm kanon. Ammunitionen og den brændbare motor gjorde i begyndelsen Shermans til et let mål for de tungere tyske kampvogne. The M4 Sherman is the main American medium tank from the Second World War. Produced in the years 1942-1945, it became the most recognizable American tank. During the war, it was dynamically developed. It was equipped with a 75 mm cannon. The ammunition and the flammable engine made the Shermans initially an easy target for the heavier German tanks. Only after the construction was refined, the roles could be reversed. A total of approximately 49,000 of all versions of the Sherman were produced. The tank was used, among others by the army of the USA, Great Britain, Poland, France and the USSR. It had a reputation as a reliable, easy-to-manufacture and well-armed tank.
